This week sees the last few jobs being done at the bottom of the well.
The new bump stops will be fitted. They will prevent the rods from damage should the engine overstroke.

Kevin, the nailmaker, has searched through the nails to find 60 suitable for the new plant room door.
All ready for next week when we start fitting them.
The new stretcher beams arrived. They needed a small amount of adjustment before fitting.

The new oak lintel for the well viewing area has arrived together with the oak for the new launder and staging.

The new firebars have arrived and are safely stored ready to be fitted.
Not going to be easy fitting 25 heavy new firebars. It will be at least a two man task.
Even in the cold the team are working on the project. This time Glyn is inspecting the rust on the covers, nuts and bolts in the cold well. The well is not as deep as the main shaft – only about 3 metres. First task next week will be to order the new parts.
After the messy work removing all the silt last week, this week we removed the valve covers to check if repairs were needed.
Guy Martin came along to lend a hand as part of his new series for C4 in the autumn.
We've installed a new spotlight at the top of the well which will shine down the shaft allowing viewers to see the pump in operation!
